Pet Commission Oil Painting FAQ
What is the standard size for a pet portrait?
The standard oil painting pet portrait measures 12 x 12 inches on canvas, complete with a custom wooden frame, ready to hang. The final cost depends on factors such as multiple pets, background details, and painting size.
Do you create paintings from photographs?
Yes, I paint from photographs since most pets don’t stay still for long. For the best results, take photos at your pet’s eye level. You can view examples of completed pet portraits under the “Dog Portraits” tab. Providing multiple reference photos helps me capture your pet’s unique personality.
How long does it take to complete a painting?
A standard painting typically takes around eight weeks to finish. I work on multiple oil paintings simultaneously, allowing time for layers to dry as I add final details. The completion time varies based on the number of subjects, background complexity, and painting size.
How is the painting delivered?
Each oil painting is carefully packaged and shipped via USPS. I’ve successfully shipped paintings worldwide. If you’re located within a 60-mile radius, I’m happy to personally deliver the painting to you.
Is a Polaroid-style dog portrait a cost-effective option?
While my standard pet portraits are very detailed oil paintings, I can create an oil Polaroid-style dog portrait upon request. These are more cost-effective than traditional oil paintings, as they require less time and materials. For a precise quote, please contact me with your preferences. Alternatively, digital Polaroid-style oil sketches can be a budget-friendly option, with prices potentially starting as low as $200.
